I try to be sure to take time to reflect and be grateful for all the good/great things in my life. It is a long list, and man am I thankful for that.
Well, here’s another thing to add to the list. Recently a good friend, ex-business partner – Jeff, invited me join him in to fulfilling his dream of going to the base camp of Mt. Everest. Yes, I am pinching myself at the prospect of this journey so thought I would once again try and share the pictures, thoughts, and impressions of new places in the world for me.
Let me put all your minds to rest by saying we are not trekking to base camp. While I have wild respect for those that do attempt climbs such as that, and even higher to the summit, my 64 YO out of shape person is not up to that task.
In brief, our schedule is:
- April 12 fly to Kathmandu, through Doha, Qatar
- Be in/around Kathmandu and Mt. Everest until April 19
- April 16 base camp Mt. Everest
- April 19 fly from Kathmandu to Sydey, Australia
- April 23 fly home
Yep, once again I am flying around the world, just a bit quicker this time, and going in the opposite direction.
While my head is spinning at the overall prospect of this trip, I am not yet able to fully grasp the magnitude of it and what we will be seeing. My last trip was a whirlwind of stops at a number of incredible locations, this trip will be more in-depth around one main location (Mt. Everest) with adventures and side trips off that.
It is my intention to log this trip as I did before. Through blogs and pictures I want to share this experience: the people, places, and locations of a unique adventure with any who care to follow it. I said of my last blog that I wrote it for mother to read. This trip, she is no longer with us, physically, but I will once again write as if she were, and was reading it and following her son.
Not sure what my first day posting will be but I will send out a notification when that day comes.
Love to all
